The Nest Store was an idea hatched in 2007 by Robin Wilson, who is in the role of creative director. She also runs Robin Wilson Home and has created a platform to introduce the consumer marketplace to eco-friendly and eco-healthy products. Many artisans do not have the marketing budget, so The Nest Store has provided a medium for them to have their products featured to a wide range of buyers. Says Robin: "It is exciting to review products to determine if they meet our eco-friendly criteria, and then we love to see consumer response." It all started when the New York Times (Dec. 13, 2007) did a story about Robin's custom-designed concrete nesting table. One month later, the PBS Nightly Business Report (Jan. 17, 2008) did a story which showcased our design work and mentioned The Nest Store. Our products were also featured in the Good Housekeeping LEED certified showhouse (July/Aug 2008). And most recently, we were on the CBS Early Show, in Ty Pennington's magazine, HOME, Black Enterprise and O's Big Book of Happiness (2008). We work hard to identify unique products that are beautiful and eco-friendly, in a variety of materials including bamboo, concrete, metal, soy, organic cotton, microcotton and mango wood, and others... enjoy! Location
We work from a showroom in New York City, but our vendors are around the world. We strive to find products that are sustainable (bamboo), low impact (organic cotton) and recyclable (metal) for consumers to learn more about these products. We often exhibit items in our showroom, and encourage to-the-trade purchases to interior designers and their clients.
Our Focus
We are thrilled that we have an opportunity to identify small firms that have great products and provide them a platform to launch their products. We work with them to ensure that it is a win-win relationship with the philosophy that the more people learn about and purchase eco-healthy and eco-friendly products, the better for all - and more demand will increase affordability of eco-friendly products.
Team
All employees are stakeholders and we have learned that a team will work harder to identify unique products if we are clear that the firm and the community will benefit. We want to ensure that items are shipped to you after a pleasant experience on our website. If you ever have a question, call our toll-free number at 866-885-6584 extension 3. Someone will be prepared to assist you - and if you get our voicemail, it means that we will call you back within 24 business hours (Operation: M-F 9:00am to 5:00pm EST).
Community Efforts
We will launch our philanthropic efforts in 2009 with profitability. In the meantime, we support the Sweet Home Project, which provides funding for homeless familes to live and locate housing.
The Journey
With a tremendous amount of hard work, focus and belief in the eco-friendly and eco-healthy principles of "recyclable, renewable and sustainable", our founding team has been on a mission to identify products which will keep consumers aware of unique 'nesting' options for their homes. The creative director, Robin Wilson launched the first product - a pair of concrete nesting tables - and after the New York Times (Dec. 13, 2007) wrote an article, the phone started ringing. With the tremendous response to this launch, we hope to continue to identify items for your nest...and thank you for supporting The Nest Store!
